Weekly Words: From Paris
After a crazy month of fashion weeks, I feel a little exhausted but completely re-inspired. I think a visit to Paris, surrounded by successful women is really all I needed to feel clear headed again. I feel like the start of this year really threw me some tough curve balls, I’ve tried my best to work through them and continue moving forward while there has been some personal chaos on the side lines. With that said, every time I’m in Paris, I feel like their is a part of life in me that comes alive. I love shooting and styling outfits here, I love finding new food spots to share with you guys and most importantly I love catching up with my all my girlfriends in the industry.
We only did half of Paris fashion week this season, for personal reasons we had to stay back a few days. It was a quick five day trip but I think because of that we made the most of it. We stayed at Hotel Bowmann, which was not sponsored but we had been wanting to try out something new and I'm glad we did! The location was really great for us, the decor is gorgeous so it made it easy to shoot in and the service was spot on. We didn't get a chance to eat at the hotel so I can't make any judgments on that but we did try out a few new food spots in the city that I will write about in a separate post!
Fashion weeks can be draining in many ways, the busy schedule with little sleep and the constant feeling of having to be ON, we all share the highs because of course there are so many but don't be fooled that there aren't some lows. I find I'm the hardest on myself during these weeks and it wasn't until I had dinner with my girlfriends in Paris until I felt myself again.
After some honest conversations we all realized how we struggle in the same ways, we are critical of ourselves, question just about everything and analyze instagram numbers way too much during this period of the year. By the end of the dinner, I felt a sense of relief I wasn't alone, I spent the next few days in Paris trying to enjoy every minute and being proud of the progress I've made and the content I'm putting out. It's funny that I happen to be writing this right after International women's day because it made me realize how important the support of strong women are in my life. We all made each other realize how we should be celebrating more of our victories and worrying less about the things we can't control.
