So, like many of you out there, last week I got all rattled up about Instagram changing the chronological order of pictures. Instagram was in talks about only having pictures show up in your feed if they were related to your interests or if you regularly interacted with them. Like most people, I asked you all to turn on your post notifications so I would still appear in your feed, only to soon find out that you would receive a notification from each person you did this for. Annoying, I know. After stepping back and hearing that Instagram was not only delaying the implementation of this, but also may not put this in place at all, I regretted my decision to ask you to turn this notification on.

Here’s my rationale: first of all, do your own research!! Instead of looking into this more and waiting until the dust settles, I jumped on the bandwagon and posted my ‘turn your post notification’ picture. The more I thought about it, I realized I should have been asking you to engage more with my Instagram and the images you enjoy seeing. More specifically, when you like someone’s picture, give them a like. Leave them a comment. Simply interact.

I think this was a good reminder for bloggers like myself and really anyone on Instagram, that if you want people to engage with you, continue to push the limits and producing inspiring content. And if you want me to continue to produce inspiring content for you, then leave me messages, like my photos and let me know what you think (respectfully of course:)).

Let’s not forget social media is an outlet to interact with people around the world and to share ideas and inspire one another…so let’s bring back that connection and then you won’t have to turn on any notifications at all!
