I couldn’t buy too many things during my time in Japan but I made sure that there was enough room for Matcha in my luggage on the way home. I have been a long time fan of matcha green tea so you can imagine my excitement when I had options of matcha ice cream, lattes, cake and cookies during my travels. However, since matcha is known for it’s amazing health benefits, I like keeping things as natural as possible when drinking it. I’ve been making this healthy, energizing smoothie¬†since I’ve been back and I’m absolutely hooked. It has been fuelling my long mornings at the computer and assisting all those ice cream cravings I was getting as soon as the sun peaked out. The frozen fruit is a perfect combination with that slight bitterness of the matcha, it’s a new summer favourite.

Matcha Smoothie

Serves 1 or 2 small

1 large banana, frozen
1 frozen mango
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
1 cup almond milk
1 tsp chia seeds (optional)
1/2 – 1 tsp matcha powder
1/2 tsp honey (optional)
sprinkle of coconut

 

Blend everything together! Enjoy.
