How fitting that the holidays are followed by the most overwhelming time of the year. We make all these goals to achieve – resolutions, if you will– and try to conquer them simultaneously as soon as January 1 rolls around. Not a good strategy.
I was completely exhausted last night but couldn’t fall asleep for the life of me, tossing and turning until 5 a.m. My mind was racing with new ideas, errands I had to tackle, and people I already missed. I felt like I was cramming a three-week plan into the few precious hours that I desperately needed to re-charge to actually put all this thought into action. Needless to say, the next day was a bit of a struggle.
I think we all need to remember that there are 365 days to tackle our annual goals and there’s no need to get too far ahead ourselves. Why not take each ambition one by one? This gives us a much more realistic chance of actually achieving success as we moves through the list. This is exactly why today I decided to take myself on a coffee date and set quarterly goals, something I can focus intensely on and aim for in the near future in a much more linear way.
