One Last Look Back at 2014

Written By Kayla Seah

2014 — we did it. Now let’s ring in this new year!

Creating this post made me realize all those moments that made 2014 a year of growth for me. The older I get, the more I know for sure what suits me best. Looking back at some of these outfits, I can really see a transformation in what I used to like and what I feel most confident in now.

I knew I wanted Not Your Standard to grow the day I launched this blog, but I could never have imagined the things I was able to accomplish over the past year. One major milestoneĀ for me was travelling throughout Europe for projects and events; I have always dreamed of merging lifestyle and work together, and I’m truly grateful to see this come to life.

I never thought modelling in lookbooks or editorials was in the cardsĀ for me, but some of these intimidating projects have proven to be the most rewarding. In my previous work I was always the one behind the camera, styling and creating, and I felt uncertain and nervous when I suddenly found myself in the opposite role.

I’m still learning every day, but I know for sure how much more confident I feel now than I did six months ago. I have learned how to be my own boss and to focus without letting the constant pressure of complete self-sustainability get to me too much. I have learned that a simple conversation can get you far in this business and that not everyone is looking to compete. I can’t thank you all enough for coming to look, read or learn from this blog every day.

I can’t wait to ring in 2015 together with you.
