We started the weekend off the right way, which was running a few errands and then aimlessly following the sun for the next four hours. The days feel so much shorter now that it gets dark at 4:00 p.m., so when the sun comes out on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, you chase it almost until it hides away again.
We walked in no specific direction but ended up on Museum Island in the Mitte. I usually don’t like the centre of most cities, but Berlin’s is a bit calmer than most. Of course it’s incredibly busy on the main roads leading to all the surrounding landmarks, but we always find so many corners to sneak away from all the chaos and appreciate the history of this city from a different angle.
Speaking of history, this weekend Germany celebrated 25 years of reunification after the fall of the wall and the city really came together to remember such a significant time. I sometimes forget that I live in a country with such a deep history and I’m grateful to have moments like this where I’m reminded of the past.
