A Week in Rome

These past couple of months have been filled with a lot travel for me and to be honest, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. As much as I love some structure and routine to my life, there is nothing like setting aside a block of time to travel. There is a certain feeling that comes over me when I’m away from my day to day life….it’s a positive one, a feeling that motivates, inspires and re-energizes my love for this blog and brand.

The highlight in these past couple of months was my recent trip to Rome, Italy. If you read the post from last week, you would know that this isn’t my first time in Rome, however, it was my first time truly falling in love with the city. Getting to experience Rome at an older age and with the luxury of travelling with my Platinum Card from American Express really made all the difference!

Coming from Italian heritage, my sister and I always dreamed of going to Italy together and learning more about where half of our family comes from. Which is exactly where the initial inspiration for this trip stemmed from. So we booked our tickets with the Amex Travel Team and 8 hours later we had landed in The Eternal City.

When we arrived in Italy, we received early noon check-in at Regina Hotel Baglioni, which is just one of the many perks of the Fine Hotels & Resorts Program that we received from booking with my Amex Platinum Card! Once we made our way to our gorgeous Italian room, we had champagne waiting on ice for us and it was safe to say the trip had officially begun. These little perks that we experienced, thanks to my Amex, really helped me feel comfortable there, after being on the road for weeks. I even got to kick back and take some time to myself one of the mornings and enjoy the hustle bustle of Rome (from my room!) with breakfast in bed, thanks to the Food and Beverage Credit another benefit of the Fine Hotels & Resorts program.

My Amex Platinum Concierge provided us with so many insider tips that only locals would know about.  One of my favourite things about things about this service is that they are available 24/7, which means that I can call them at any hour of the day regardless of what time zone I’m in. The tips my Concierge provided helped us book in at non-touristy restaurants (see below my recommendations), what neighbourhoods to go to according to our interests, arriving at quieter times to see major historical sites, like the Coliseum, and where we could rent bikes to see Rome properly. Honestly, these tips made our trip so seamless and it really felt like we experienced Rome the best way possible.

It’s not hard to have a great time in Italy, but my Amex Platinum Card really made the trip seamless. Having everything taken care of from restaurant bookings and hot spot recommendations to all the amazing Fine Hotels & Resorts benefits, living the #AmexLife in Rome was nothing short of amazing.

Favourite spots to eat:

Ditta Trinchetti

Trattoria Da Enzo

La Prosciutteria

Giolitti

Roma Sparita
