It’s funny; when life gets chaotic, there’s nothing like a serious girls night to get you back to normal again. My two best friends in Berlin and I had a few bumps in the road these past couple of weeks – nothing life-altering, but definitely an excuse to round up the troops, grab a few bottles of wine, and watch Sex and the City… because, really, that will never get old.
So that’s exactly what we did, and in true Not Your Standard fashion there was a tasty menu to go alongside our gossip, venting, and laughing. I made pumpkin sweet potato patties, lemon parmesan Brussels sprouts, and a persimmon-apple crisp to complement the conversation. Nights like this are always a good reminder of what truly matters in life; those relationships that are irreplaceable, because after all…
“Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn’t fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it’s comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you’re very lucky, a plane ride away.”
